The honest answer to this question is no, more often than not. There are several reasons why you may get declined for mobile phones particularly the Iphone they are:

- The risk to reward factor – Mobile networks want to know that you will pay before they give you a mobile phone. They have a breakeven point that they are willing to accept passed. If the phone is expensive either the price per month must be higher or the contract longer.

- Longer contracts mean more risk to the network

- The Iphone is in high demand and so the networks can pick and choose who they sell too as demand is often higher than the supply of phones to customers.

I want an iPhone what can I do?

There are 2 options:

- Apply for a sim only contract for a few months and gain network trust. Then apply for an iPhone and get approved

- Get an iPhone on pay as you go as you would have paid for the handset in your monthly bill anyway

Bad Credit Contracts offers all the tips and advice needed to get a mobile phone contract with bad credit. We have a range of articles explaining how to get your hands on a bad credit contract. Please see our tips below:

Bad Credit Mobile Tips:

- Apply Direct to a Mobile Phone Network – Such as: Orange, T Mobile, O2

- Get a Sim Only Contract first and work up to a full contract with a phone over time

- Pick a mid range phone if you do choose a contract that isn’t sim only however this is not recommended if you want an increased chance of getting approved

-If you get refused build up loyalty on pay as you go and check your credit report free online to see where your going wrong

Ready to get a new mobile contract?

There are three main networks that show to have a better acceptance rate than others. They are: Orange T Mobile O2

T Mobile has a great acceptance rate for Bad Credit customers on the SOLO Tariff

Why go Direct? Mobile phone networks have a variety of criteria like all mobile companies on who they will and won’t accept. Mobile networks have the power to be more favourable for a small deposit or other extended terms where as a mobile retailer has stricter controls on what sort of customer they will accept. Click Here to Sign up with Orange

Why go for a sim only option? Simcards cost the network a pittance in comparison to the expensive mobiles they often give away for free. This means the network can simply cut you off if you don’t pay your bills on time. This means less risk and a greater chance you will get approved. T Mobile has good acceptance rates on SOLO Sim Only Contracts

What to do if I still get refused for a mobile contract? As mentioned above, check your credit report and build up loyalty with your current network on pay as you go. You could also get a relative to apply in their name if you have a good trusting relationship.

Below is a list of the sort of phones you should try and aim to get when you have a bad credit rating. You will not be able to get a top of the range mobile primarily because of the high value vs the risk the network takes in giving you the contract. You should aim for mid range phones when you are looking for a bad credit contract

Phones such as:

Nokia 5800
Samsung Tocco Ultra
Blackberry Curve 8900

Alteratively you should opt for a SIM Only Contract from T Mobile or Orange.

As most students have little or no credit history they will stuggle to get a contract mobile phone. Students having no credit history until they run up credit card bills and other credit items will mean they will almost definitely get refused a contract deal, well this is if they fail to follow our advice:

Student tips for a bad credit mobile contract:

- Like our general advice the key is to sign up for a sim only contract which has less risk to the network providers meaning they are more likely to accept you.

- Having no credit history it maybe wise to take out a credit card even if you don’t intend on using it as this information maybe shared increasing your likelyhood of getting accepted.

- Try our reccommended network offers as they are more leanient making it once again easier to get approved. – We suggest: T Mobile or Orange.

- If non of the above works build up your loyalty on a pay as you go phone with the network you hope to get a contract with.

- Refer to our other bad credit contract tips for more advice

Like with normal mobile phone contracts customers can often find they keep getting declined for mobile broadband. The one difference is that with mobile broadband the dongles sold as part of the contract are fairly cheap to product. This makes it a lower risk to the mobile networks other than if you go over your allowance of course and they can cut you off if that happens.

Apply for Mobile Broadband with Vodafone

Apply for Mobile Broadband with T Mobile

Mobile broadband with bad credit can still be applied for but it is strongly reccommended that you do not apply for mobile broadband with a free laptop as the decline rates are extremely high. The tips for applying for mobile broadband with a bad credit rating are similar to those of a normal mobile contract:

- Apply direct with a mobile phone network

- Don’t go for expensive equipment such as free laptops

- Be expected to pay a small security deposit if required to secure the deal.
